MWM gas engines reach higher efficiency
Increase to up to 44.2 percent
In 2012, the MWM engines reached a new technical milestone: The electrical efficiency of the gas engines was increased to 44.2 percent. This increase was made possible by optimizing the gas change and ignition components. Using natural gas as fuel and operating at 50 Hz, the optimized MWM TCG 2032 V12 gas engine delivered 3,333 kW, and the MWM TCG 2032 V16 variant 4,300 kW. The operating time of the two gas engine variants was also optimized significantly. The time until the general overhaul of the engines was increased from 64,000 to 80,000 operating hours.
