The MWM service tutorial series “Do it the smart way” on the MWM YouTube channel delivers basic maintenance tips and instructions for MWM gas engines. In the sixth episode of the video series, Alexander Klotz, Technical Trainer at the Learning Center Service in Mannheim, explains how to measure the valve recession on MWM gas engines.

How can maintenance help prevent damage to the gas engine?

Regular checks of the valve recession on the MWM gas engine ensure early identification of any wear of the valve face and valve seat ring. With the help of the measuring device and a depth gauge, the values at the inlet and outlet ducts can be measured and read. After the check, the measuring device is removed, and the cylinder head cover gasket is put back on.
