MWM TCG 2032 V16 and TCG 2020 V16 gas engines counter a countrywide power outage in Turkey
Mannheim, June 08, 2015
During a countrywide power outage on March 31, 2015, the “Gürsu Organize Sanayi Bölgesi (GÜSAB)” industrial park in Bursa (northwestern Anatolia) was the only industrial area in all of Turkey with a functioning power supply. Some time ago, the supervisory board of the industrial park opted for a common distributed energy production system (cogeneration power plant) with three MWM TCG 2032 V16 gas engines and one TCG 2020 V16 model.

Full output even with low-pressure natural gas
The 14.5 MW CHP plant is run on natural gas and its design allows for full output even at low pressure. This means that the system can even keep running when other cogeneration systems have to be shut down due to low pressure. The gas engines were procured and commissioned by MWM’s Turkish partner İltekno A.Ş.
The gas engines are being showered with accolades
In the past, power outages repeatedly brought the production of the 101 companies located in Bursa to a standstill. This created tremendous difficulties in the industrial park with 7,500 employees and an annual export volume of 350 million dollars. The employees only learned from the Internet and the media that they had been spared from the power outage. They were able to continue working without any disruptions, thus enabling them to complete their customer orders on schedule. “We have been showered with accolades from all over Turkey,” says Yunus Aydın, chairman of GÜSAB’s supervisory board.
