MWM Container ‒ The One-Stop Solution
Mannheim, April 29, 2010
In addition to the recent expansion of the product range with the new genset TCG 2020 K, MWM from Mannheim, Germany, now wants to increase its presence in the field of complete turnkey systems. In this context, the company has introduced the new MWM container, a highly efficient and economic system designed especially for natural gas and biogas applications.
Especially in the field of biogas, the container represents an economic overall package consisting of a biogas genset, a standard container, and biogas processing. All components are tuned to each other in the best way possible and are perfectly aligned with the special requirements of biogas operation. For example, exhaust turbochargers and controlled gas systems designed especially for this application case are made use of. The efficiency is substantially improved by optimized chamber spark plugs and special pistons. Moreover, the cooling water and exhaust gas heat exchanger are integrated in the heating circuit. The TA-Luft exhaust gas regulations are complied with, and the requirements for the emission reduction bonus (e.g. for Germany) for limiting formaldehyde by means of active carbon desulfurization, catalysis, gas cool drying and, if necessary, compression, are met.
Depending on the application case, the engines can be adjusted for various natural gas and special gas qualities in addition to biogas. The container can be implemented with the MWM gensets TCG 2016 C (V08, V12, or V 16) and TCG 2020 (12, 16, or 20 cylinders). The main focus is on reliability and advanced efficiency, which are achieved through measures such as the optimized intake duct and combustion chamber, contributing to a 15% reduction in annual fuel costs. Furthermore, improved engine parts enable lubricant savings of up to 50% compared to similar gensets.
The TEM system effectively controls not only the engine, but also the entire plant including the heat from cogeneration. Temperature monitoring for each cylinder and anti-knock control ensure optimum fuel utilization and maximum power output even if the gas composition should fluctuate.
With its standardized container dimensions 3 x 3 m (W x H) including the genset, peripherals, and switchgear, the entire unit is not only extremely compact, but also ensures easy transportation and quick setup on site. If necessary, the container floor can serve as an oil catch pan. The cables are routed under the switch cabinets, and the supply connections for gas and heating water and optionally for lubricants and for the flare are integrated in the side panels of the container.
Furthermore, the container is heat and noise insulated, and the slim, smooth wall design enables maximum utilization of the interior space. The comprehensive offer of the MWM containers comprises a time-saving maintenance concept, low-maintenance design, long maintenance intervals, and a global service and logistics network. The TEM system even allows direct online access to current engine values during operation. Furthermore, all relevant international certifications have been obtained, such as CE, GOST (Russia), and CSA (Canada).
