Australia: Brewery in Geelong runs two MWM TCG 2016 engines
Mannheim, January 17th, 2013
The Little Creatures Brewery in Geelong, Australia has awarded a contract to supply and install a 1200 kW gas-fired cogeneration plantto Simons Green Energy.
The cogeneration plant is made up of two off-sized gas engines, one 800 kW in capacity and the other 400 kW, which allows for greater modulation of output, according to Simons. The plant’s reciprocating gas engines are supplied by MWM.
Combined heat and power (CHP) plants have a total efficiency of 85 per cent, as compared to the 25–30 per cent efficiency of grid-supplied electricity, according to EcoGeneration.
The installation of the cogeneration system will significantly reduce the brewery’s energy usage and carbon emissions. The waste heat generated by the engines will be used to provide hot water for the brewery’s numerous process heating applications. The brewery is due to commence production in mid-2013.
