2023 in retrospect: MWM rolls out new energy projects and celebrates 100th anniversary with various campaigns

Caterpillar Energy Solutions GmbH reminisces about the developments of its MWM brand in the financial year 2023. This year saw the celebration of a special event, the brand’s 100th anniversary.
Celebration of the “100 years MWM brand” anniversary
Following the kick-off in 2022, numerous campaigns were implemented in 2023 to mark the MWM brand’s 100th anniversary, including a virtual timeline with milestones from the brand’s history and personal moments from MWM employees, partners, and customers. In the monthly anniversary quiz, questions were asked about the history of the MWM brand, and vouchers for the MWM webshop were raffled off among the winners. In addition, two digital archives presenting the historical employee magazine and the MWM brand logo through the ages were launched, and expert interviews about the development of the brand were published. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary, texts and images were made available to distributors in the form of an exclusive MWM kit.
Introduction of MWM gas engines for hydrogen operation
Energy generation with hydrogen was one of the hot topics in 2023. The MWM TCG 3016 and TCG 3020 gas engine series introduced by MWM in 2023 support operation with a hydrogen admixture of up to 25 vol% without any technical modifications. The MWM 25H2-Kit, which can be used to retrofit gas engines of the TCG 3016 and TCG 3020 series for hydrogen operation with up to 25% by volume, is offered to operators of existing plants.
Top marks for MWM Service and launch of the landing page for original MWM spare parts
High service quality and the associated satisfaction of MWM customers is a top priority for MWM. Surveys are conducted and evaluated on a regular basis in order to ensure high quality and performance of the MWM Service. The MWM End Customer Survey 2022, which was published as a web report in January 2023, revealed a very high level of satisfaction with MWM products and services. Of the MWM end customers surveyed throughout Europe, 98 percent recommended the work of the MWM Service Centers and of the MWM subsidiaries in Europe.
By means of its new dedicated landing page for the range of MWM spare parts, MWM has been able to further expand its extensive service and product portfolio. The landing page showcases the most popular MWM spare parts for gas engines, e.g. the prechamber spark plug and the E40/E40+ maintenance bundle. Whenever the need arises, MWM customers or new customers can request a spare part on the respective spare parts page using the linked MWM service form.
In 2023, three new episodes of the popular MWM service tutorial video series “Do it the smart way” were published on the MWM YouTube channel “mwmgenset”. In the three episodes, Alexander Klotz, Head of the MWM Learning Center Service, demonstrates a TPEM auxiliary drive test, the TPEM data export, and the correct lube oil change on the MWM gas engine.
Global projects for decentralized energy generation with MWM gas engines
In 2023, MWM again successfully rolled out various projects for distributed energy generation around the globe in collaboration with MWM distributors and the service network.
The list includes the Funkerberg cogeneration power plant in Königs Wusterhausen in the German state of Brandenburg, which was designated “cogeneration power plant of the month” by “Energie & Management” magazine and which uses two MWM TCG 2020 V12 gas engines to produce heat and electricity for the connected households as part of the decarbonization strategy.
In 2023, an MWM TCG 3020 V16 gas engine was installed for the Nigerian plastics manufacturer Panar Group of Companies. Together with an MWM TCG 2020 V12 K1 gas engine, it generates energy for the production processes.
In Lozovo in North Macedonia, a 2-MW biogas plant with two MWM TCG 2020 V12 gas engines that run exclusively on renewables and organic waste, produces sustainable energy for about 4,000 households.
