Industry and Research Join Forces
Innovative Collaboration of MWM and Fraunhofer Institute in Karlsruhe
A Special MWM Moment of Dr.-Ing. H. R. Fehrenbach, Prof. (retired)
Teamwork between industry and research yields success. That’s the way it has to be! I experienced MWM as a highly innovative company. The company enabled the research institute I worked for at the time to test and apply a newly developed measurement procedure for the diagnosis of high-cylinder engines.
In addition to supporting the research, MWM supplemented the student education with specialized lectures at our university. The excursions of master students to the MWM factory were always special highlights.
On behalf of the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, I congratulate MWM on its 100th anniversary and wish it all the best and a lot of success until the next big anniversary.

About
By order of MWM, Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Hermann Fehrenbach, Prof. (retired), originally department head at the Fraunhofer Institute in Karlsruhe, Germany, and his team developed software (as well as some hardware) for monitoring small diesel engines (KD engines), long-term data storage of the engine operating figures, remote transmission of the engine operating figures, as well as a diagnosis system (XSERUM for the engine TBD632 V16). The engine monitoring software and the data storage software were later also used for small Deutz engines. No doubt, the cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute Karlsruhe was outstanding. The collaboration of Dr. Fehrenbach and MWM continued from 1989 to 2002.
